Boogalow

A 2 track funk single (9m 45s) — released March 22nd 2010 on Lovemonk

The Gigoletto Brass Band are a band of temporary brothers from different mothers: the brass section of Barcelona rumbatronic band Muchachito Bombo Infierno, Madrid-based jazz-funkers Speak Low and other players of the Madrid funk scene, who are united in and operating from the Sietepulgadas Collective in Spain's capital. As one could gather from its title, "Boogalow" is a flaming piece of boogaloo in true Fania style, featuring Mr. Muchachito himself. "Koendu (Africa con Bajo)" is an epic mix of Afro beat and jazz which is rather delish, if you don't mind us saying so. This is the fifth instalment of the famous Marula Soulfood series (Lovemonk Records meets Marula Club), which means there's a wondeful recipe for fricando with dried apricots on the backside of the record sleeve, courtesy of the fabulous Can Lluis restaurant in the heart of Barcelona. Sabroso!
